Detox programs work!


There is a good chance that in the past you have experienced a detox program in a beautiful retreat somewhere in the world, if not you then one of your friends might have told you how amazing she/he felt after that. Many retreats promote many benefits of detoxing the body like better skin, less stress, more energy, less cravings, better sleep, and much more.


Detoxification (often shortened to detox and sometimes called body cleansing) is a type of alternative medicine treatment which aims to help the body to get rid of unspecified “toxins” – substances that proponents claim have accumulated in the body and have undesirable short-term or long-term effects on individual health (weight gain, fatigue, disease…).

Activities commonly associated with detoxification include dieting, fasting, consuming exclusively or avoiding specific foods, colon cleansing and chelation therapy.



Of course, if you drink plenty of water, stop consuming alcohol, stop smoking, reduce your calorie intake, stop eating junk food, do some exercise and rest for few days, there is a high probability that your body will experience some quickly noticed benefits.

  • Fewer headaches? This is likely because you are fully hydrated and have cut back on if not removed completely, your alcohol and/or caffeine intake.
  • Does your skin look better? Well of course, with all that water you are drinking! It is likely that eating more fruit and vegetables (instead of burgers and crisps), which are full of healthy vitamins and antioxidants, is giving your skin a healthier glow.
  • Feeling less bloated? This is often because you have eaten far more fiber that helps to keep our bowels working regularly and therefore can reduce bloating due our digestion being more efficient. In addition to this, eating less will reduce the volume of food you digest and therefore the volume within your stomach.
  • I’m losing weight! Nothing new here. You are likely to lose weight if you have cut back on calories!

It seems like all these benefits may not come from a toxin removal tablet, a liver cleanser medicine or some colonic hydrotherapy. It just seems like you have started a healthy diet!

Don’t you think that it would be better to continue with this diet and do some exercises on a regular basis in order to benefit all your life of this wellbeing rather than going to a very expensive detox retreat for a week and feel good for a week or two only?

I will show you in another article that if detox programs work it’s surely not for the reasons they claim. And does it worth the price you have paid for? Certainly not.
